New Year, Historic Adventures!

Say goodbye to 2016 and say hello to the New Year! 2016 has been an exciting year for the Key West Historic Seaport and we would like to take a look back on all the accomplishments we had, remember our historic history, plan how to achieve our New Year’s resolutions and take a look forward to what’s to come in 2017!

The history of the Historic Seaport dates back to the 1700s when Key West became a useful stopping point during coastwise navigation. There was a diversity of marine life in the Keys waters and early mariners and the first settlers of the island soon came to rely on those resources for subsistence and as part of the economic base of the town when it first became established in the 1820s. That tradition continued into the present day. The Historic Seaport was formally referred to as Key West Bight, which is a curve or recess in a coastline, river, or other geographical feature and become home to many industries, including boating, turtle, sea sponge, fishing and shrimping. The Key West Historic Seaport has come a long way since its roots. You can also enjoy weekly live music and entertainment at Schooner Wharf Bar, stay up-to-date with the latest fashion trends by shopping at Local Color and you can embrace your adventurous side by booking a trip with Key West Eco Tours!

2016 was the year of the Key West Historic Seaport website makeover!
